RSS

RSS is a XML News Syndication format. This format has for the most part replaced the <scriptingNews> format developed by UserLand.com. The original RSS spec was developed by Netscape for use with My.Netscape.com. You can find more information about the history of RSS and it's definition at the RSS 0.91 page on Backend.userland.com.

RSS Generation for News Publisher

Currently TheOneRing.net uses News Publisher by Grant Williams. I wanted to take the news from this script and make it available via RSS.

Now once you start generating RSS format news, the next step is of course displaying that news. At the time, I did not know of the rss2html.pl script so I set about making my own. Use mine or use theirs, it doesn't matter to me.
