Man I loved this movie. The acting from Ian Mckellen, Richard Armitage, Martin Freeman, Lee Pace, Luke Evans etc etc was exceptional!! Each character fitted the brief! In short...SMAUG WAS EPIC...'nough said. Tauriel proved me wrong and was a proud and strong character. Bolg was finally introduced to us and the dark, powerful Necromancer was seen (and now we've learned that Sauron was coming back PROPERLY) The music and storyline was AMAZING!! Ed Sheeran did a wonderful performance of "I See Fire" for the end credits and Howard Shore has once again done a wonderful job with his composing!! Bilbo's story has advanced at a steady pace and viewers are now left wondering what will happen to our dear Hobbit.

I did have some flaws with the movie, but none outweighed my total admiration. I am an avid book-lover and still I don't believe in the romance hinted between Kili and Tauriel. The two races would NEVER EVER react that way towards each other. I felt that, in some scenes with the elves, there was far too much CGI used and we lost the depth of what was happening. I wasn't overly fond of what happened to Kili in the barrel scene, but I respect how it helps Jackson advance his ideas of the dwarf's involvement with Tauriel. Also I felt that there wasn't nearly enough of the Murkwood or Beorn!! But who knows! Maybe they will be featured more in the extended edition!!

All in all it's much better than An Unexpected Journey!! Cannot wait for the Battle of Five Armies!!
