I don't know what Peter Jackson was thinking at all when he reviewed the screen play and script for the second movie in the Hobbit franchise... He said that the most important thing to him was sticking to the books.

Now I completely understand the fact that somethings from the book have to be cut to keep the movies shorter... but instead of cutting them he changed them altogether until it is just a film very loosely based on the book.

The first movie "The Unexpected Journey" was well done in this aspect but the sequel has ruined the book and the trilogy with its ridiculous cutting and taking away from a beautiful story.

I am a huge fan of the book and the first movie but as a close fan... I have read the book 13 times and have it pretty much memorized and to see NONE of my favorite parts even come close to making it on the big-screen and characters that did not exist and love triangles that were utterly ridiculous...

So in conclusion, The Movie from a pure entertainment view was extremely well done (Special Effects, Acting, Directing, overall quality) But sticking to the story is now no longer a weapon in Peter Jackson's huge arsenal... and that was a huge disappointment. I would give this movie a 2.5 stars out of 5.
