Great movie and never a dull moment! I must even say I like it more than hobbit part 1. Even though it wanders off the book version quite a bit in the 2nd half, it did not really bother me - except at the end. My likes and dislikes are summed up as follows:

I really liked:
* The movie beginning in Bree's prancing pony. Perfect, could not have been a better start!
* Beorn
* Bilbo's slight changing in personality due to the ring
* Woodelves & King
* The barrelride (magnificient!)
* The High Fells/Dol Goldur (and the short appearance of Radagast, linking it to Galadriel this way) and Sauron.
* Laketown on poles
* Thorin's nobility and flaws
* Smaug & conversation with Bilbo

I disliked:
* Smaug leaving the Lonely Mountain like that. The bookversion is just better AND more believable (Smaug trying to catch Bilbo but since Smaug's too big, he leaves and circles the mountain, cannot get to them, then remembers 'barrelrider' and decides to attack Laketown).
* That would of course leave out all the dwarves-Smaug action inside the mountain, but I'm sure some action could be created circling the mountain that also works on film...! I would like to hear some good arguments from the team why they have chosen this instead of the book version.
* Where are the burning beards while confronting Smaug? I hope the extended edition will have it :-)
