I enjoyed The Hobbit very much and it achieved my expectation, but it didn't surpass them.
It was as good as AUJ, maybe a little bit superior. The acting was amazing as always, the CGI was perfect and the action scenes were... brilliant! I didn't mind inclusion of Tauriel and Legolas, nor the romance with Kili (because it will have a massive impact in the next film, where... you know) but I disliked them having SO MUCH attention, more than characters FROM the book like Thranduil, wich had abou two dialogues. Bolg was disappointing, his design was mediocre and he's character was flat. Azog was far more interesting. My BIGGEST disappointment was the lack of Beorn, and Mirkwood. The beggining was FAR TOO RUSHED!I was expecting a balnce in the timing: slow beggining in the house of Beorn (PJ got scarred by the criticism of the slow AUJ beggining wich was actually wonderfull and true to the book), a long journey in Mirkwood, not just ten steps, a shorter time in Laketown and then a shorter ending in Erebor. I understand the need of adding new scenes to fill the film, but why adding those orcs in laketown for example when Beorn could have a much longer screentime?! Other thing that I disliked was that ''fight'' with Smaug, at the end of it I was just tired, and that scene with the golden statue... was just ridiculous. And the score... I love Howard Shore but the score of AUJ was way better than this one. It was still the best film of the year, but it could have been better.
