Overall I thought The Hobbit was worth waiting the two years from when I first heard about the making of the movie. I really liked the comedy parts in the begging with Bilbo fainting and the dwarves barging in his home univited, also with the personalities of Gollum/Smeagol was hilarious. The music that Howard Shore composed for the movie was beautiful and really expressed the feelings and emotions in those scenes. Really loved the singing dwraves and cruel goblin song. The make-up artists did a fantastic job ecspeacially with Galadriels beauty. I thought the casting was perfect, they are all very talanted actors/actresses and the fact that the majority of them where from the lord of the rings was even better. The intesity in some scenes making it so dramatic really made the emotions stand out because alot of movies just go straight to the point and I hate that. My favorite scene was the last scene when Thorin hugged Bilbo for saving his life that really got me.:)
Even with so many positive sides to the hobbit there where a few dissapointments. One, no talking eagles?:( I also did not like how the flashback battle of the dwarves trying to take Moria or how the orcs both looked extremly animated, almost like world of warcraft. The costumes of the dwarves could use a little more work on them to make them look a bit more authentic or beleivable. I was hoping for a few more riddles in 'riddles in the dark' to rise the intensity. Finally the movie was a tiny bit slow and could move a bit faster in the next two that follow.
Other than that Peter, Fran, Phillipa and the rest of the crew really succeeded in this movie. When this comes out on DVD I'm getting it on Blu-ray 3-D with non-stop laughing, intensity and action, I cannot wait for the next two. J.R.R. Tolkien would be proud.:) Thank you for reading my review.
