I went to the midnight premier, and I was a little worried from some reviews saying that it wasn't that great, but 2 minutes into it I could tell those people were just plain stupid, because it was amazing. I am planning on seeing it in 3D 48 fps sometime before the end of December. Before I was worried about it being 3 movies, but after seeing this, it has solidified my trust that Peter Jackson knows what he is doing. But, my review may be biased by the fact that I am a huge LOTR fan...
