One of the best dramatic scenes in modern cinema is in this movie: the riddle game between Bilbo and Gollum. It is a masterpiece of writing, directing, acting, photography, editing and special effects. Alternating between tension, humour, emotion and action, it's the most beautiful scene I've scene in years.
It is one of the greatest tragedies of modern cinema that the rest of The Hobbit is pure garbage.
