Personally, I am beyond surprized at all the heat Peter Jackson, the cast, crew, and film have been getting since the start of the journey. Sure I'm a huge fan of Tolkien's and possibly and even greater fan of Peter Jackson's translation from book to film. I saw "The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey" opening night in sacramento in Imax and it was hands down the greatest theater experience I've ever had. The way the overall film played out shocked me, the fact that I coud have imagined it all so poorly frankly shocked me. I thought the special effects and CG bits were perfect, the trolls were spot on. I was blown away by the spectacular detail of Erabor, Rivendell, and the Goblin City. I'm glad Jackson got over his anxeities over producing thirteen individual dwarves and brought Tolkien, Jackson, and Fatasy fans alike a grand new prequel adventure to enjoy visualy and audibly. There's no other director i could have trusted enough to shoot this film. I'm desperately awaiting parts two and three, "Desolation of Smaug" and "There And Back Again"

Richard Armitage 's performance as Thorin?
Bilbo's retelling of the history of Erebor and of Thror/Thrain/Thorin
The Eagles rescue sequence?
