as a fan of this whole leviathan since i was twelve, i can honestly say i love what's been done with this film. i believe pete's undertaken this whole thing for tolkien and for the fans now; the academy awards and the critics can go off themselves. it's a story that must be told, and has been told wonderfully, i honestly don't care about the effect of the fps and all that technical crap.i'm not good with objective reviweing, so i'll just say how i feel. the stunning cinematography made me breathless and overjoyed to be in middle-earth again (seeing rivendell made me tear up). the witty battle scenes were well-played, and the character development hit me square on the heart, every last one of them. thorin and bilbo shone through so well, and i can only hope the other dwarfs are given more screen time as fleshed-out characters and not fun distractions.i have only one last request: can we please see elladan and elrohir? and tom bombadil? quite irrational and i see no way how that can be worked into the story but i just wish so...sigh.in short, i could not ask for a better conduit of creativity for this world i cherish so much. cheers, pete.
