I loved it! The gentle beginning welcomed me back into Middle-earth and Hobbiton and familiar faces (Old Bilbo and Frodo). It was like coming home. Then it continued with a segue to young Bilbo (Martin Freeman was the perfect casting choice for Bilbo) and an introduction to all the dwarves, before taking off with run-ins with trolls and goblins, chase and fight scenes. My favorite was the Riddles in the Dark scene with Gollum - Andy Serkis once again gave a masterful performance, especially the Gollum/Smeagol conversations. I was very happy with this first installment of the Hobbit. Can't wait for the next two.
