In today's Globe and Mail is a long story on Cate Blanchett (Galadriel):

"...Making The Gift was, by comparison with what came next, a mere toe-in-the-water step toward the cinematic supernatural. Blanchett plunged in deep to play J.R.R. Tolkien's elf queen, Lady Galadriel, in director Peter Jackson's ambitious adaptation of The Lord of the Rings.
