Among CG-created movie characters, Lord of the Rings' Gollum ranks among the most impressive Hollywood has ever produced. What made him so creepy is the combination of the character's voice (provided by actor Andy Serkis) and his intricate facial expressions, created by Weta Digital's Bay Raitt. Raitt gave a presentation detailing the facial animation system he built in order to bring much of Andy Serkis' outstanding performance into the Gollum character, and give him his unique look.
